Growing up in New Zealand on a lifestyle block had a huge influence on my decision to pursue the veterinary field. Being surrounded by animals every day, my love for them developed naturally from a young age. I spent much of my time riding my horses, caring for our cows and sheep, and looking after my cats and dogs. Those experiences not only gave me a strong connection to animals but also helped me understand the responsibility and dedication required to care for them properly. Choosing veterinary medicine felt like a natural path, allowing me to turn a lifelong passion into a meaningful career dedicated to animal health and wellbeing.
As a Technician and Assistant Manager, I truly love all areas of veterinary medicine. If I had to choose a favorite, it would be ICU cases — there’s nothing more rewarding than seeing a critical patient recover and go home happy. I’m also very passionate about client education and helping pet owners feel informed and confident in their pets’ care.
What I love most about my job is, of course, the pets! From the excitement of a new puppy to the sassiness of senior pets, every day is different and fulfilling. I also really value the family-like environment that comes with working in the veterinary field and being part of a supportive team.
Outside of work, I love spending time outdoors with my family. We enjoy hiking, biking, skiing, and have recently started backcountry camping together. I have two cats, Kalamalka (Kal) and LJ. They are full siblings but look completely different — Kal is a long-haired calico, and LJ is a domestic short-haired orange tabby.
