ATTENTION US TRAVELLERS: We continue to receive lots of inquiries about the updated travel rules for dogs travelling to the U.S. that take effect on August 1, 2024. You can find the most up-to-date information about the new dog rules on the CFIA website.
Ultrasounds & X-rays are safe devices that provide a closer look at internal organs and structures.
South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital is equipped with the latest in X-ray technology, with the addition of the Idexx ImageVue DR40 Digital Imaging System. With this state-of-the-art machine, we produce excellent quality images in seconds. That means less time for your pet on the X-ray table, minimal exposure for our staff, and reduced impact on the environment.
As one of the many diagnostic tools available at South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital, radiology (x-ray) is routinely used to provide valuable information about your pet’s health. Potential areas in which we may use radiology to investigate your pet’s condition include their bones, gastrointestinal tract (stomach, intestines, colon), respiratory tract (lungs), heart, and genitourinary system (bladder, prostate).
Occasionally, when radiographs are challenging to interpret, we will suggest that they be sent to a Veterinary Radiologist. The images are sent immediately over the internet with the simple touch of a button! The specialist will review the radiographs and send back a full report.
An ultrasound is a 3D image and can offer a different diagnostic option for your cat. Our hospital works closely with board-certified radiologists, and when needed, we will arrange an ultrasound for your pet. Once a month, we have a board-certified veterinary radiologist in our hospital. You can rest assured that you will be working with the same animal care team that you and your pet are familiar with. If it is an emergency, we can work with a referral hospital and arrange for an ultrasound outside of our hospital when needed.
At South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital, we offer digital dental x-rays as well. Just like when you go to the dentist, x-rays can offer diagnostic imaging of the bone and tooth structure, which is important in diagnosing oral health.
Treatment options vary depending on your pet’s reason for coming to South Burnaby Veterinary Hospital and what our veterinarians discover during their exam. Our team will present an estimate and review it with you prior to proceeding.
